Baking for Arncliffe since 2003

مخبز الزين — أرنكليف، سيدني

Elzein Bakery has been family-run in Arncliffe since 2003. More than twenty years on, you'll find us at 1A Firth Street, right next to Arncliffe station — the same family at the ovens, and the same two recipes doing the heavy lifting: our dough, and our zaatar blend. Both are family recipes, and both are made the way they were on day one.

The morning routine hasn't changed much either. The ovens are hot before 6am, the dough is made fresh, and the first zaatar manoush of the day usually goes to a commuter running for the train. By mid-morning it's trays of Lebanese pizza, lahm bi ajin and pides, baked with fresh ingredients we prepare daily.

If you haven't had Lebanese pizza before, here's the short version: it's baked on fresh manoush-style dough with generous cheese and no heavy tomato-sauce base — lighter and less oily than the takeaway pizza you're used to. It's the thing our regulars mention most, and the reason a $3 zaatar often turns into a weekly order.

Everything we bake is halal certified (حلال) — manoush, pizzas, pides, all of it. And because we're a bakery at heart, the prices have stayed bakery prices: zaatar from $3, pides from $5, a whole Lebanese meat pizza for $10.

We also cater — birthdays, office functions, school fundraisers and community events across the St George area have been eating our manoush for years. If you're planning something, here's how catering works, or just call us on (02) 9556 3136.

Come by any morning. We're the warm smell of zaatar next to Arncliffe station.
